ABSTRACT Employer of Choice (EOC) status has been touted as yielding competitive advantage in securing human resources. The attainment of Employer of Choice is believed to provide an edge to the organization in the competition for the recruitment and retention of top talent. The assumption is that such a strategy will yield a competitive advantage for the employer yet this assertion has not been subjected to the rigors of academic study. This paper discusses the issues surrounding EOC as a strategy and presents, based on existing theory, empirically testable propositions.
